Profile of the Degree ProgrammeA transdisciplinary approach which combines perspectives and methods of different fields is essential for Gender Studies. To impart knowledge about Gender Studies and its theories and methods facilitates the analysis of gender as a societal category and its complexity. Thereby it helps understanding the social and cultural construction of gender in the past as well as in the present. Studies can focus on following areas: “Concepts of the body and the individual”, “Social relations”, “Work, economy, and material culture”, “Political culture and socio-political systems” and “Language, literature, text and image media, systems of belief and knowledge”.
In addition to the specific knowledge of the field Gender Studies the Bachelor’s degree programme qualifies for starting a consecutive Master’s programme or beginning to work. The acquired knowledge especially qualifies for a job as gender-expert in academics and different public and private institutions:
- Universities, colleges and research institutions,
- Cultural and pedagogical institutions,
- Public relations and marketing,
- Media,
- Areas of Gender Mainstreaming and Diversity Management,
